The tallship American Pride is looking for enthusiastic, caring and
dedicated individuals who want to help educate today's youth. The
American Pride recruits individuals who are positive role models,
enthusiastic educators and who are interested in challenging
themselves professionally. Under the guidance of our staff, campers
learn new skills, build self-esteem, make new friends, gain confidence
and most importantly HAVE FUN!
Expectations: All staff who work with the American Pride assume an
important role in working with our campers. Staff are expected to be
leaders, role models and even a "stand-in" parent during summer camp.

This responsibility carries with it certain expectations of how staff
will act at camp and around campers, other staff and parents. It is
our expectation that staff members maintain a professional attitude,
work as a member of team, enjoy working in an outdoor setting, and
assist in creating a positive caring environment for all of our
participants.

Sailing experience is not required!!

Benefits: All staff will receive a competitive salary and
opportunities to develop new skills and experiences. The American
Pride works in partnership with our staff to provide a positive
opportunity for both the staff member and camp participant. All staff
members receive staff uniforms and hands-on experience.

In order to compensate and recognize those individuals who return
bring a special set of skills to the organization, we have established
the following rewards program:

*       Staff members will receive an additional $50 for each of the
certificates held (must have proof and be in good standing through the
entirety of the employment period):

Wilderness First Aid or higher certification
Red Cross WSI Certificate
Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate
Teaching Certificate

The other benefits are snorkeling, SCUBA diving (if certified),
kayaking, sailing and hiking around Catalina Island. P.S. You're
getting paid while doing ALL of it!!!

Schedule: The American Pride schedule varies greatly. Offering a
dynamic program comprised of single day experiences and residential
programs, the American Pride strives to reach all youth in new and
innovative programming models. Please expect to work a varying
schedule that includes some weekends.

Housing: This is a live-aboard position

Salary: Salary is dependent on experience. A bachelor's degree in
marine biology, environmental science or history is a plus. Knowledge
of snorkeling, diving, first aid and CPR, is a plus.
