Looking for a degree in Psychology but don’t have time to attend day classes?

With the University of Maine at Machias, you can complete a B.A. in Psychology and Community Studies degree entirely online!

UMM's Psychology and Community Studies program is interdisciplinary, community engaged and hands-on, featuring applied learning.

  • The Psychology and Community Studies Program takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding behavior.  Many of society's problems require viewpoints from different fields in order to see the whole picture and find possible solutions. For example, the federal government may impose regulations to protect certain species of fish, but we also need to examine how this affects the fishing communities in terms of economics, social changes, and human behavior.
  • We are a community engaged program, meaning you will have opportunities to work and build practical skills with community partners.  You will learn theories about behavior, and then get a chance to try out this knowledge with hands-on activities and projects in your community.
  • Our program has an applied focus. In addition to traditional coursework, you will immerse yourself in your major through field work and internships in your home town. By choosing to major in Psychology and Community Studies, you will graduate not only with the knowledge and skills you need to enter the job market or go on to graduate school, but also with a set of tools that can be applied in addressing many of your life's challenges.
