Appliances
As you know, UMM is an Environmental Liberal Arts University. As we continue to be more sustainable and reduce our carbon footprint, we are requiring all new students (beginning Fall 2009) to bring only Energy Star appliances (i.e. microwave, refrigerator, etc.)
Refrigerators:
Refrigerators must be 4.0 cubic feet or less. No full-sized refrigerators are allowed
Microwaves:
Microwaves must be no greater than 700 watts and must be UL approved and in good working order.
Coffee Makers:
Coffee Makers are allowed on the condition that they have an automatic shut off
George Forman Grills:
George Forman Grills are allowed on the condition that students do not leave them unattended when they are on.
Crock Pots:
Due to the nature of a Crock pot being plugged in and giving off heat for long periods of time, they are not allowed in the residence halls.
* Appliances with exposed coils (toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates with exposed coils, space heaters, etc) are not allowed in the residence halls.
